REVIEW BY CEECEE! MINE TO SPELL BY JANEAL FALOR

Blurb Cynthia has always hidden from her father’s hexes behind her older sister. When her family gains independence unheard of for women, she’s relieved that her days of harsh punishments are over. But as her seventeenth birthday approaches—the typical age to be sold to a new master—death threats endanger her sisters. She now faces two options: run or meet society’s expectations.

For once, Cynthia isn’t going to let her older sister shield her from the problem. She’s going to prove to herself, her sisters, and society that her family isn’t a threat to their traditions. She willingly chooses to be purchased by a new master. A bold step that takes her somewhere she never thought she would go and to a man she might possibly fall in love with. With his help, she may just find a way to save her sisters while discovering how to stand up for herself. If she lives long enough.

Another great read by Jeneal Falor!

Growing up in Chardonia has taught Cynthia to guard her heart, as well as her ability to cast spells. Although she wants to keep her family safe, she’s tired of servitude and oppression. The men from her country are relentlessly abusive towards women, and refuse to accept a changing world. This spirited young woman earns her title as the heroine in this novel! From releasing herself of a tyrannical husband, to battling in the tournament, she fought every step of the way for her freedom. She had a little help, of course.

Lucas is a foreigner in Cynthia’s land, but he may as well be from another world. Although she’s used to Zane’s behavior towards her sister, Serena, she never thought that finding another like him was possible. I love this sweet character, as he welcomes Cynthia’s zest for life and her curiosity. His determination to stand beside her, though it put him in grave danger, was a wonderful story in itself! I can’t wait to see what’s in store for these two!

I must say that I’m enchanted by this horrific, yet amazing world that Falor has created. The characters are strong, the story line is outstanding, and the romance is delivered through intricate details that melted my heart. This novel is mostly about Cynthia becoming a respected Warlock, which is a wonderfully creative way to express women’s suffrage. Bravo!
